Powering the Voices of Domestic Workers!

Meet Our President​

Mrs. Yim Sothy, President of the Association of Domestic Workers (ADW), is a passionate labor rights defender shaped by her own journey. Starting work as a domestic worker at the age of 14, she experienced exploitation, harassment, and poor working conditions—realities that inspired her lifelong commitment to protect others in similar situations. In 2016, she founded ADW to organize and empower domestic workers in Cambodia and abroad. Under her leadership, the association has achieved significant wins, such as securing rest days, fair wages, and support for migrant workers returning home.

Despite facing pressure from authorities and resistance from employers, Mrs. Sothy continues to speak out boldly. She is a key voice calling for the Cambodian government to ratify ILO Convention No. 189 and establish a legal framework to protect domestic workers. Her efforts were recently highlighted in an international report on the urgent need for domestic worker protections:

Mission.

We work to protect and promote the rights of domestic workers and migrant domestic workers in Cambodia. We support fair laws, raise awareness, and provide skills and knowledge to empower workers and improve their working conditions.

Vision.

We want to see domestic workers recognized and valued as essential contributors to society. We aim to influence policy, provide training, and create lasting support systems that improve the lives of workers and their families.
